Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 15/08/2025

At DeafMetrix, accessibility isn’t a “feature” — it’s the foundation of everything we do.
We are a Deaf-led consultancy with a mission to redesign systems so they work for everyone, not just those they were originally built for. We know that genuine inclusion means removing barriers for Deaf people — but also for disabled, neurodivergent, and older users worldwide.

We’re also honest: our website and digital materials are not yet perfect. Some parts are still being built, tested, or adapted. Accessibility is a journey, and as a growing business, we are committed to moving forward with transparency, urgency, and measurable action.

Our Commitment

  • To follow Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as our baseline — and exceed them where Deaf-led solutions are needed.

  • To ensure that accessibility for all users is embedded in every decision — from policy to design to service delivery.

  • To treat accessibility as a core business function, not an afterthought or compliance exercise.

  • To involve real Deaf and disabled users in testing, so we address lived barriers, not just theoretical ones.

  • To review and update this statement regularly so you always know where we stand.

Where We Know We Need to Improve

We are aware of current barriers on our website and digital channels, including:

  • No British Sign Language (BSL) videos for core content (yet).

  • Some videos without captions or complete transcripts.

  • PDFs and other documents that may not be fully screen-reader compatible.

  • Colour contrast and font adjustments still in progress.

  • Limited alternative navigation for users with mobility or vision impairments.

How We’re Fixing It

Our accessibility roadmap includes:

  • Adding BSL translations for all key pages and service descriptions.

  • Providing accurate captions and downloadable transcripts for all videos.

  • Reformatting downloadable documents for full screen-reader compatibility.

  • Refining colour contrast, font clarity, and text spacing for readability.

  • Expanding contact options to include SMS, Relay Service, and direct video calls.

  • Conducting biannual accessibility audits with Deaf and disabled testers.

  • Applying accessibility improvements across our consultancy deliverables — not just our website.

Your Feedback Shapes Us

We welcome feedback from anyone who encounters barriers, because accessibility isn’t “done” — it’s co-created.

Contact us if you’ve had difficulty using our website, materials, or services:

Email: deafmetrix@outlook.com
Video Call (by appointment): Zoom or Microsoft Teams
Text Message or Relay Service: Available on request

When you reach out, please include:

  • The page, feature, or content you had trouble with.

  • The issue you experienced.

  • The device, browser, or assistive technology you were using.

We aim to reply to all accessibility feedback within 5 working days and provide an update or solution within 20 working days.

Standards & Compliance

This statement aligns with:

  • UK Equality Act 2010

  • Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (where applicable)

  • WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards

  • Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act (for U.S.-based users)

  • Berne Convention and TRIPS Agreement protections for accessible digital content

Note: As a Deaf-led business, we know that accessibility goes deeper than compliance. It’s not just about passing a checklist — it’s about building trust, increasing reach, and removing barriers that most organisations don’t even see. We may not have everything in place today, but we will keep moving forward until everyone — Deaf or hearing, disabled or not — can access our work without compromise.
